Thank YOU for this dedication. I feel strongly about supporting our troops and families. Not just because I'm a vet, I was during peace time and it was nothing like it is now.

I make VISION ART and my favorite one is my personal tribute to the military and their families. My favorite section is where it says "Officer Thanks Soldier"

Tamra:
service during peace time, definitely isn't anything like it is now. but the amount of training each person receives, along w/ the pride of work even during peacetime shows how great our military is every day :) and great art!!!

I am an ex-Royal Engineers (1965 - 1989) For many years my family & friends have tried to persuade me to put pen to paper to down some of the many 'stories' I would tell at social and family occasions. The stories were always funny and I would usually have them rolling in the aisle.

Ricky – The Early Years
A feel of what life was really like for a military family living below the poverty line in the 1950s. I detail my life from my earliest memories, through my school days, until I eventually joined the Army in the mid 1960s. You are able to follow the numerous scrapes, incidents and often funny, sometimes tragic situations in which I found myself.

Our Lad Ricky
About the several abortive attempts I made to join the Army, always failing due to my apparent weakness and ill health. And how, in desperation, I persuaded my best friend to take my entrance medical on my behalf. Follow my hesitant, precarious and often hilarious attempts at turning from boy to man.

Ricky – Green Beret
I cover a host of mishaps and personal catastrophes. And how, quite accidentally, Ricky found himself posted to a Commando Unit forming up in Singapore. Although NOT a volunteer ‘Ricky’ struggled through weeks of ‘Beat Up’ and following Commando Training at the Commando Training Centre in Lympstone, Devon, to successfully succeed in winning the much coveted Green Beret. Much to his own surprise and the astonishment of comrades, friends and family!

My son Pvt Isaac T. Cortes 26 was KIA on Nov. 27, 2007 in Amerli Iraq. Isaac was only in the military 10 month's, this was his first tour to Iraq. His last phone call to me, I knew in my heart he was saying goodbye, 4 days later he was killed. I miss him so much. God Bless our fallen soldiers and all who are still fighting for our freedom. It only takes to words, when I see a soldier, I walk up to him/her I shake their hand and give them a big hug and say THANK YOU for the wonderful job they are doing. SUPPORT OUR TROOPS...HOOAH
